Brands For Sale

Starting a new business isn't simple. The same as to have a good branding over it. I feel that branding is important for new businesses to be recognized, and sometimes people may find it hard to figure names for their company. Which is why I have created a few brands, complete with logo, letterhead and business card design. So here are some new ones to share. If you like them and would like to start your own business, they are for SALE!

AvalonArts
Avalon Arts. Suited for arts and visual communications agency.

AvalonArts
Clearer look at the logo. The whole branding/identity design is for USD890. License: full ownership and copyrights over the design.

Firemaker Media
Firemaker Media. Suited for creative media agency.

Firemaker Media
Firemaker Media logo. The whole branding/identity design is for USD550 with full ownership and copyrights.

These designs will be up in my next website that will be called creatividia. Creatividia will feature ready-made designs for branding suited for specific area of businesses. More details will be up soon on how designers can participate to sell their experimental or ready-made designs.

Creatividia
This is the final logo for creatividia designed by yours truly. Get in touch with me at shafiq.rizwan [at] gmail [dot] com if you would like to inquire about the creatividia project or even to purchase the brands above.

The Ethics of Design

When it comes to ethics, the whole world knows that design originality is in fact, the most important thing ever. But we know there are people who look around to find some kind of idea/inspiration to apply to their design. That is actually pretty good, especially for design newbies so that they learn the techniques or styles to gain experience. Indeed, there are many designers who make that as a practice to explore and improve their design skills.

However, there are some who do not even think about the ethics of design. Easily said, there are people who probably do not have the real passion about arts and design, or even haven't got a clue on how to start, and what they do is just copy the actual one and tweak it a little bit. It is OK if the tweak is major and results in overall change of design because that would mean the designer just needed some style to begin with.

Here's a snapshot of a blog that copied and tweak-a-little Personalie's theme design.

Gosh, now Personalie has got a slimy green variant. You can witness this yourself at his blog, unless he already changed the design when you view it. Well that's really up to the blogger himself if he changes his mind to produce an original design of his own.

Apart from all that, there's a funny story behind it on how I found out about this. The blogger probably copied some part of my layout CSS and pasted it at his own template. Somehow the background image of the widgets is still referring to the WCL address, which AwStats showed there is a hit coming from his blog. I am uncertain whether that was intentional, or not. But on the bright side, someone digs my layout design but that someone probably hates purple and pink.

Tech Pets

I love the Mighty Mouse. It certainly makes navigation a lot easier and work done faster. Practical to use especially when dealing with illustration design, because it has got horizontal and vertical scroll button! Since I like it a lot, here's another way of showing how close I am to my Mighty Mouse. It's just like my pet.

The idea is that, the Mighty Mouse moves the cursor using the IR beam and this little mousey in the graphic above looks like it moves as though the beam causes it float. And you've probably guessed the tail is the USB connection. But I hope I did not mislead you to thinking that the real Mighty Mouse would squeak when you squeeze it.

My Daughter

Here's another creation of mine. I consider her as my daughter, I created her. I am not actually married though.

My Daughter
Black speech bubble seems to work for this as well. Probably another trend? Tell me what you think about it. She is so cute!

WCL Creative To Come Soon

A better illustration. Hope you guys like it.

Angry Kid
Look on the top-left of the illustration where the illustration bends like a paper, voila, the WCL Creative Logo (Read more on WCL Creative below). This shall be one of the WCL Creative creations. So what you think about this illustration? Have I improved in vector illustration? Frankly, I am happy with this one. Looks pretty well-blended and the typography makes it look 'fun' and 'happy' although 'angry' doesn't make sense. But who gives a damn about that as long as it just works. ;)

NEWSFLASH
WCL Creative will be another creative divison of WeCreateLogos which is more focused on print media and web design. This step is taken because of the high demand of this area in the design industry. Below is the proposed logo for this division of WCL (subject to change).

WCL Creative Logo
Well that's the news about WCL. Let's continue about the illustration once again. That illustration is a personal one rather. Thinking of turning it into a poster and paste it over my wall. It will look cool eh? Plus, I was an angry kid, threw tantrums like there was no tomorrow. Well not to elaborate more about those stories, let's focus on the illustration shall we?

So there is a little more detail compared to the first one in my last post. Surprisingly I was very motivated to create this one. Probably because it signifies myself. Man, I am really contented with this simple design. Hope to bring you more pretty stuffs on my blog. Pray that my laziness shall soon disappear, totally.

Illustration

Just had a little time to update the blog, so here it is my not-so-good-looking illustration. Tell me what you think. I wish to be really good in vector illustration. Probably will take more time to learn more of this time-consuming digital art.

Vector IllustrationDesigners these days are fond of vector illustration and there are lots of reasons why it is implemented. One thing for sure is because they look darn cool! This is my fifth time doing vector illustration (the third and fourth failed) and somehow I don't think it is impressive at all. I did not put in some extra details to the body part since my laziness started to kick in right after completing the face.

Well at least that's an improvement. More vector illustrations to come soon. Pray that I stop being lazy and be more creative next time. If you're a designer yourself and an expert in vector illustrations, I'd be really glad to know more about you and would love to see your designs. ;)

IE and Web Designers

If you're using Internet Explorer and browsing this page right now, you might notice the Archive list with a broken background. I am yet to find out the way to fix this problem. Well, it is common to web designers to face this kind of problems and to deal with it is something really boring and painful to go through.

IE7
I have not yet tested on versions that are lower than IE7. If you see the same thing here, I will really appreciate if you leave a comment about it. When it comes to browser-compatibility, web designers all over the world would curse this browser, but to no avail, they just have to make their websites work with it. *Sigh*

The First Post

This is my second time blogging after failing for the first time due to my laziness of maintaining a blog. It wasn't that surprising that my first blog was only available for less than 3 days due to the frustration over the limited capabilities of some available blog services - capabilities that I needed.

Despite Wordpress being pretty and have beautiful semantics over its XHTML and CSS themes, it was limited for me to show off samples of CSS directly on the current page. So that was the story of the 3-days-old blog that existed for nothing. Hopefully blogspot has something better to offer for a demanding person like me.

However, I hope this blog will not be judged by my past. I will put more commitment towards blogging to show the world the exciting stuff with my job and my life as a web/graphic designer. Hehe, that sounded enthusiastic. Hopefully I'll remain enthusiastic all the way through! So stay tuned guys!
